Youth members of National League for Democracy (NLD) in Rangoon marked International Human Rights Day on 10 December by distributing booklets on human rights declarations despite the danger of being arrested and imprisoned by agents of Burma?s military junta, State Peace and Development Council (SPDC).
The youth, formed into several groups, handed out the booklets at busy areas of Rangoon and the booklets were "selling like hot cakes" among the people, according to a youth who took part in the contributing activities.
The same youth told DVB that there was no arrest by the authorities.
Meanwhile, exiled pro-democracy Burmese activists in India also organised an event to mark the International Human Rights Day at New Delhi. They denounced the violations of human rights by the SPDC and discussed how to improve the situation in the country.
