The poems tell the story of many peoples.
I am miinded of a boy many years past who walked over mountains searching safety from a stranger after watching his mother raped and killed, his father butchered and his village burned. He found it just short of his own death.
When we realise what all of this means for people just like us, it's kind of impossible not to get involved... You know, I've done a little bit of historical research concerning Burma's recent history (I participated on a competition with a project-"The lived history of Burma's democracy movement from 1988 'till now" and I've won the third prize).... It's been very passionating, talking to people whoi have faced, themselves, the brutality of a dictatorsip, listening to their stories and matching them to the historical events...
You know, I think that, since that moment when you are faced with people's true story, it's impossible not to get involved
